The Alumni Council will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the Private Dining Room of the Student Center. SCC alums are encouraged to attend and share ideas about enhancing SCC alumni relations. For more information or to RSVP, contact Lance Swearengin at x8278.

Throughout March, there will be events to celebrate Collegiate Wellness Month and Women's History Month. The complete list of activities includes:

  • Master Class Week is March 3-7. Free fitness classes will be held from noon-12:50 p.m. in the College Center. There will be prizes, and no registration is required. Come dressed for fitness! Classes include Zumba Monday, March 3, in CC 201; Mudo Yoga Tuesday, March 4, in CC 206; Basic Step Aerobics Wednesday, March 5, in CC 203; Cardio Core Strength on Ball Thursday, March 6, in CC 204; and Circuit Training Challenge Friday, March 7, in CC 103.

  • Wednesday, March 5, is Kick Butts Day. There will be collection stations on campus to throw away smoking articles. Appreciation gifts will be distributed. A panel discussion on Components of Wellness will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in CC 108.

  • I'll Betcha..., a seminar on gambling awareness, will be held from noon-1 p.m. Monday, March 10, in the CC Rotunda.

  • A seminar on Body Imaging by Cathy Reilly from St. Louis Community College-Meramec will be held at noon Wednesday or Thursday, March 26 or 27, in the SSB Auditorium. The official date is to be announced.

  • Mira Tanna from the Equal Housing Opportunity Council will present a seminar on Fair Housing at noon Monday, March 31, in the SSB Auditorium.

  • A Town Hall Meeting on the subject of Binge Drinking and Social Hosting, co-sponsored by Healthy Communities and SCC, will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the SSB Auditorium.

Center Stage Theatre will present Black Elk Speaks at 8 p.m. March 5-8, and at 2 p.m. March 9. The play, based on John Neihardt's 1932 biography, recounts the history of the American Indian from Columbus to the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1980. Tickets for Black Elk Speaks are $7 general admission, $5 for students and seniors, and free for SCC students with valid I.D. For tickets, call 636-922-8050. There will be related events and activities on campus to enhance the historic play, including:

  • As an introduction to the story of Black Elk, there will be lunchtime learning seminars from 11-11:50 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday, March 3 and 5, in SSB 1102. The seminars will provide additional insight and information on this period in history as it relates to the production.

  • Visions of Black Elk, a photographic exhibit and visual enhancement of the play, will be on display during the run of the show from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. in the Annex Gallery of the FAB. The exhibit highlights the work of Chris Brewington, a St. Louis photographer. His images, taken during a trip to the Badlands, showcase locations such as the site of the Wounded Knee Massacre, creating a visual reference for the historic setting of Black Elk Speaks.

Projections International Film Series will present the Bollywood film Shaadi Se Pehle at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the SSB Auditorium. Admission is free. For more information, contact Darren Osburn at x8564.

Spring Hat-titude Day will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in the Student Center. Red hatters and women of all ages are invited to welcome the warm spring months with a bit of "hat-titude." There will be shopping booths from local vendors, a Hawaiian-themed ladies luncheon with keynote speakers The Sister Friends, and a hula dancing presentation by Dori Neumeier. Tickets are $25, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to an SCC Red Hat scholarship. To register, call x8233. For more information, contact Mary Lou Schlis at x8412.

There is a home Cougars baseball game at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, vs. Lincoln Land. The Cougars will also play at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, vs. Maple Woods. Both games will be played at SCC. The softball Cougars will play at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, at home vs. Lindenwood.

A PTK Satellite Seminar, Afghanistan After the Taliban, will be presented from noon-1 p.m. Monday, March 10, in the SSB Auditorium. For more information, contact Brenda Hollrah at x8230.

The SCC Multimedia Invitational Art Exhibition will be held from March 12-April 20 in the FAB Gallery. The gallery is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, contact Brian Smith at x8575.
