Fixed Assets

Items valued in excess of $1,000.00 that are purchased by the College, received in the Receiving Department, and referencing a College purchase order number, will be property tagged as a fixed asset by Property & Inventory Department (P&I). Details of each item will be entered into the College's inventory system.

Departments are responsible for the care of fixed asset items. Lost or stolen College property is reported to campus security immediately upon discovery.

Transfer of Fixed Assets

When it is determined that a capital asset is no longer of use to a department, but may be of value, the department is to complete a transfer of Capital Assets form and forward it to the P&I Department. The P&I Department will make arrangements for the pick up and transfer of that asset.

The warehouse will store such assets, whenever possible, in the warehouse and make said assets available for redistribution to other College departments.

If after an appropriate period of time, the asset is not redistributed to another College department, the P&I Department may request that said asset be considered surplus and available for an appropriate disposal method.

Disposal of Fixed Assets

When it is determined that a fixed asset is no longer of use to the College, the department responsible for the asset will complete a Disposal of Capital Assets form and forward it to the P&I Department. The P&I Department will make arrangements for the pickup of that asset. The P&I Department will dispose of such assets as deemed appropriate by the Purchasing Director.

Surplus Property Sales

Those items and assets considered to be surplus property may be sold during a sale of College properties conducted by the Purchasing Department.

Sales will be open to the public. Items will be sold "as is" on a sealed bid basis or other approved method of disposal.
