Spring is here, and hopefully, here to stay. Its time to enjoy the beauty of trees in the spring time sun. Please see our 'Tree Related' courses in the Continuing Education course catalog.
This is also a good time to start mulching
your trees. A thin layer of mulch, no more then two inches, and
mulching as far out to the drip-line as possible will benefit your tree
the most. Remember not to have mulch in direct contact with the trunk
of your tree, as this can transfer disease. There is nothing
better to cure that spring fever than getting outside and making your
tree beautiful! If your tree needs work from a professional, make sure
he/she is a certified arborist.

Feeding Your Lawn
Remember, most plants, including turf, use reserves in their roots to send out growth in the spring, so don't waste time by feeding too early and be green! Wait until it is needed in late spring. When that time comes, do some research on organics for your lawn. Organics will be a healthy alternative for your turf and pets! Make sure your fertilizer is pet safe for those animal lovers!

Its time to prep! This is the right time to start cultivating soils, adding in amendments, and getting ready to add those colorful annuals! Get a head start and start preparing your planting beds now!

We are always on the lookout for bugs, even
in these cold days of March. The devastating invasive species, known
as the "Emerald Ash Borer," or "E.A.B.," has yet to be discovered in our
area, but it has been spotted in our state. To read more about this
destructive pest and its effects on our environment, please visit:
