Duties:

St. Charles Community College welcomes applicants for the position of Associate Director of Institutional Research. This position is responsible for providing timely information to internal and external constituents including federal, state, and private reporting agencies. This position serves to coordinate, administer, or manage data on projects. The position serves to maintain historical data and to keep current the data sets and variables needed and used by the department in its day-to-day operation.

Other duties include:

  • Coordinate and administer reports, surveys, and questionnaires for internal and external entities.
  • Independently manage Census-related processes.
  • Independently handle lower level analysis of data.
  • Coordinate and administrate projects assigned by the director.
  • Independently manage data sets and keep error-free.
  • Independently build files combining data and/or extracting data from clearinghouse or Peer Analysis System or other data sources.
  • Handle data requests from faculty, administrators, or staff (often independently).
  • Prepare correspondence and generate charts for reports or presentations.
  • Manage internal survey processes such as student-based surveys.
  • Coordinate and prepare resources materials such as the SCC fact book.
  • Provide direction and oversee applicable tasks assigned to administrative assistant.
  • Manage routine or daily functions of office, including but not limited to research software/hardware, enrollment counts, verify department bills, ensure equipment is functional.
  • Attend meetings or make presentations as required on behalf of department and the director.
Qualifications:

Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  High degree of organizational ability in order to multi-task and meet required deadlines.  Ability to work independently, and to manage project timelines, coordinate data from divisions, administrate reports, and survey processes.  Highly skilled in multiple computer software programs and Internet-based data sites.  Ability to determine which variables are needed for analysis and skill to combine data into statistical programs such as SPSS.  Excellent communication skills to effectively work with College personnel including administrators.  Must be able to effectively guide tasks delegated to administrative assistant, and, on occasion, give presentations.  Exercises discretion with regard to sensitive data. Experience in higher education preferred.
