Time of Class: Spring 2008 Sec. 80 Thursday 7:00-9:50 pm

Course Objectives:

Students with special needs:

We all have various channels through which we learn best. SCC has an Office of Accessibility Services that guides, counsels, and assists students with disabilities. It is located in Room 133 of the Student Center. It is your responsibility (as the student) to discuss with the instructor during the first week of class anything needed to help you succeed. If you have special needs, please call Pam Bova (636.922.8247) in the Office of Accessibility Services so that your eligibility for services can be determined.

SCC also offers mental health counseling.  If you need help with depression, anger, domestic violence, stress, addiction, eating disorder, or anxiety, please contact Mary Hall at 636.288.6533.  Her office is located at ADM 1204.

What the teacher expects from each student

Attendance Policy: Each student is expected to attend all classes. The fact that some of the course includes hands-on activity makes attendance at class even more important. If absence is unavoidable, the student is expected to have the textbook material read and any class assignments completed before returning to the next schedule class. Failure to do this will cause the inability to keep up with the class material being discussed.

DO NOT call or e-mail the teacher to find out what we covered in a class that you missed. This information should be obtained from the course timetable and/or a classmate.

Homework

Homework will be the 10 Multiple Choice Questions at the back of each chapter (chapters 3-9 have Parts A, B, and some C, each with its own Multiple Choice Questions....be sure to do them ALL),  and will be due the week after we start to cover the chapter. You will lose 5 points for each class that the homework is late.

Exams

Most weeks, the class will begin with an objective exam (true/false, multiple choice) on the previous week's topics.  These exams cannot be made up,  but missing one will not affect your grade (because the lowest grade is thrown out anyway).

In-Class Assignments

Most weeks will include a hands-on assignment using Oracle.  These assignments cannot be made up, but missing one will not affect your grade (because the lowest grade is thrown out anyway).

Final Exam

The Final Exam will be partially objective (true/false, multiple choice) and partially hands-on.
