Grading: Your grades will be based on the above assignments. (p/f) You will also receive credit for in class activities and discussion; therefore, outside preparation is not only essential for your grade but for effectiveness of the entire class. Homework assignments must be completed on the assigned date. Failure to do so may result in being marked absent. In order to receive credit for late work, advance arrangements must be made with the instructor (emergency absences when papers are due will only be excused with verifiable documentation). In order to pass the class, all major assignments must be turned in; also, you should demonstrate that you have learned the basic skills taught in the course by passing the departmental final exam and most major exams and formal assignments.

Format:  *All essays and assignments done outside the classroom must be typed, double spaced, with your name, date, and assignment number in the upper left corner.

*If assignments are more than one page long, connect the             pages with a staple, paper clip, or folder.

Attendance: Class participation is an essential part of this course and will be reflected in your grade. See me if you miss more than 3 class sessions to discuss whether or not you will be able to fulfill the course requirements. If you miss more than 6 MWF (or 4 T-TH) class periods (without a verifiable medical excuse), you will fail the class.

Support Services:  Any student with diagnosed problems with reading/writing is eligible for testing, tutoring, and assistance with test taking and writing. Please see Pam Bova in Student Services (ACAD 1206), who will then make appropriate (private) arrangements for you with your instructors. Additional support services are available in the ACE center (First Alert/Tutoring/Computer software/ESL)
