Career Opportunities in Accounting An ACCOUNTANT is highly educated professional who may be employed in a wide variety of industries and organizations including:

Public accounting including the Big Five and other international, national regional and local CPA firms. These firms engage in independent auditing, tax planning and return preparation, information systems analysis and installation and consulting.  

Industry

Industrial forms, ranging in size form the size of General Motors or General Foods to those of relatively small size and in all types of industries. Graduates with these forms work in financial reporting and planning, cost and managerial accounting, internal auditing, tax planning and return preparation and other functions.

Government

Government units including the Internal Revenue Service, FBI, The Department of Defense Auditing and DEA are just some of the Federal Agencies which hire accountants. In addition, graduates are hired at the State and Local level of government as well. Graduates with these units work in compliance auditing, fund accounting as well as perform many of the same activities as those working in private industry.

Service

The service industry such as hospitals, educational institutions, consulting firms, ect. are just some additional job avenues for graduating accounting students.
