$1,000 RUN. LIVE. LEARN. Scholarship to SCC

New this year! One runner will win a $1,000 scholarship to St. Charles Community College. Entrants in the 5K and 10K races (ages 18 and older) will be automatically entered into a drawing for the scholarship. They may also purchase additional chances for the scholarship drawing at packet pickup on Friday, April 26, and on Race Day. Cost: $5 for one chance or $10 for three chances. Runners must show their RUN. LIVE. LEARN. 5K or 10K race bib and be age 18 and over to purchase additional chances.

Scholarship FAQs

When will you announce the winner?

The scholarship recipient will be announced at the awards ceremony on the day of the event, April 27.

Do you have to be present to win?

No, you do not need to be present to win the scholarship. If you are not present at the time of the award, you will be contacted by a member of the race committee. 

How long is the scholarship valid?

The scholarship expires June 15, 2015. 

Can I give the scholarship away to a friend or family member?

Yes, a one-time transfer to a current or prospective student is allowed, but it must be used by the expiration date regardless of the date of transfer. 

Will I get $1,000 in cash?

No, the scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s account at St. Charles Community College only. 

What can this scholarship be used for?

The scholarship can be applied to tuition or fees at SCC or used in the SCC Bookstore to purchase textbooks. 

What happens if the scholarship goes unused?

Any unused portion will be returned and used for future awarding.  

Can the scholarship be used for Continuing Education courses?

No, the scholarship must be used for credit courses at SCC. 

Are there any additional requirements to use the scholarship?

In order to receive the scholarship, you must enroll in credit classes at SCC. You may also be asked to have your picture taken to promote future RUN. LIVE. LEARN. scholarship opportunities.
