Technician
(PMT 100-41)
This 12 week course taught by a registered pharmacist provides
the classroom
instruction necessary for employment as a Pharmacy Technician in the
state of Missouri. The course teaches prescription processing,
drug classifications, physiology, drug interactions, dosage
calculations, medical terminology, and compounding. The Pharmacy
Technician is eligible for employment in retail stores, pharmacies,
hospitals, and prescription vendors.
When you complete the course, you must take and pass a written final
exam with an 80% or better score. Graduates will receive a
certificate of completion and are eligible to apply for the national
PTCB exam.
Prerequisites:
- High School graduate or GED certificate.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to communicate in English (may sign up for English
as a Second Language [ESL] offered at SCC free of charge).
- Possess keyboarding skills.
- Possess strong basic math skills.
