Medical Coding
(MCDG 100-40)

This online course is a fully integrated, comprehensive, stand-alone study course in medical coding. The Independent Study Program for Medical Coding is a comprehensive program designed specifically to train individuals for entry-level certification and employment as medical coders.

All necessary textbooks and reference materials are included in the cost of the program. The online program combines web based instructions and reference books to provide students with practical experience while learning outpatient medical coding. Competency-based learning is enhanced through this virtual classroom using automatic grading, interactive graphics, dynamic flashcards, modern encoder practice, and an extensive practicum. These features save the student time and enhance the learning experience.

The course is Internet based with all content online with the exception of reference materials such as dictionaries and coding books.

A computer with Internet access (33.6 KBPS minimum, 56K or greater recommended) and an active e-mail account are required for the course. The biggest factor in speed and efficiency of the online course is the Internet connection. The choice of an ISP and expense are the responsibility of the student.
