Certified
Medication Technician
(CMT - 200-40)
This course provides the classroom instruction necessary to
obtain CMT certification in Missouri. The CMT is permitted to
administer medications to residents in a long term care setting (not in
hospitals). Upon completion of the course a written and clinical
final exam must be taken and passed with an 80% or better score to
achieve certification.
Prerequisites:
- Documentation of a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Be certified as a CNA in Missouri with at least six months
experience
- Have a letter of recommendation from Administrator or
Director of Nursing
- Be at least 17 years old
- No class A or B felony convictions
- Free of Tuberculosis (a negative TB test result is
required)
- Able to communicate in English
- Achieve passing score on the TABE test (ninth grade English
and Math test). TABE test is given by appointment only.
$10.00 non refundable TABE test fee payable at time of setting up test
date appointment.
Classroom Contact Hours:
60 hours
Clinical Hours:
24 hours of clinical experience must be completed prior to
the final exam. NO STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED WHO ARE NOT
EMPLOYED IN A CLINICAL SETTING.
Tuition:
$275. All tuition is due prior to the first day of
class.
