  • Persons who have completed an RN or LPN program and have not yet taken or received notification of state board results and more than 90 days have elapsed since graduation or taking the state board exam.

  • Persons trained as psychiatric medication aides from the Department of Mental Health and who have received the 16 hour orientation module (see CNA Review 102-40) and have an active CNA certificate.  (These individuals must take the CNA challenge first if they are not an active Missouri CNA).

Process:

  1. Students must enroll for the test and schedule an exam date with the instructor.

  2. Students must provide all required documentation (see above) including any out of state certificates and their social security number to allow for application to the state for a Permission to Challenge letter if the student applied prior to contacting the school.

Note:   Letters are good for four months from the date of the letter.

  3. Students will receive a letter from the college with the location of the exam, supplies needed, and any additional information pertinent to that student.

Fees:

Note:

Tests should be scheduled at least 4-6 weeks prior to the desired date to allow for processing of all applications through the State office.  SCC does not have any clinical sites that will permit us to bring in a CMT challenge student that is not an employee to take the clinical portion of the exam.Call 636-922-8280 for an appointment to take the CMT Challenge Exam.
