School-Business Programs
for Middle
School Students
Each November, eighth grade students throughout St. Charles County have an opportunity to explore career options on the campus of St. Charles Community College. Professionals from area businesses, representing the six Missouri career pathways, meet with students to discuss future career opportunities.
Information that is shared with students includes educational requirements in high school and beyond, approximate income of various positions within the company, the future of the profession, and any other information that will help students make an informed career decision. Organizers of this event state, “This is a wonderful opportunity for business professionals to help young people find the right career path.”

The Robotics Demonstration Days, sponsored by Mid Rivers Tech Prep Consortium, is held annually for middle and high school students in Pike, Lincoln, and St. Charles County. General Motors Wentzville Assembly Plant’s central engineering department develops a real-world challenge based on a typical, industrial robot application. The students have six weeks to build and program their robot, using Lego® MindStorm™ Robotics Kits in order to meet the challenge.
The goal of the event is two-fold: it gives students an awareness of careers in manufacturing, science, and technology industries and it helps students apply their math, science, and technology knowledge in a teamwork experience. The Robotics Demonstration Days is held annually in February.
