School-Business Programs
for High School Students

Business and Social Sciences Career Day

The Business and Social Sciences Career Day is a half-day program for junior and senior high school students held each February on the SCC campus.  Students attend three classroom sessions that help them explore various career options in the business and social sciences.  There is also a special session for A+ students. For registration information, call Tammie De Los Santos at 636-922-8342.

Ethics Day

Sophomore students from Orchard Farm High School have the opportunity to meet with business professionals to learn about ethics in the workplace and the importance of making ethical decisions. In a roundtable format, students test their decision-making skills when presented with various ethical dilemmas while the business professional serves as the facilitator for the discussion.  If you would like more information, would like to participate as a facilitator, or would like to have an event like this at your school, call Tammie De Los Santos at 636-922-8342.

Robotics Demonstration Days

The Robotics Demonstration Days, sponsored by Mid Rivers Tech Prep Consortium, is held annually for middle and high school students in Pike, Lincoln, and St. Charles County.  General Motors Wentzville Assembly Plant’s central engineering department develops a real-world challenge based on a typical industrial robot application. The students have six weeks to build and program their robot, using Lego® MindStorm™ Robotics Kits in order to meet the challenge.  The goal of the event is two-fold:

  1. to give students an awareness of careers in manufacturing, science, and technology industries and
  2. help students apply their math, science, and technology knowledge in a teamwork experience. The Robotics Demonstration Days is held annually in February.
