Command Spanish: Emergency Spanish for Firefighters
Purpose
This program prepares non-Spanish-speaking firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs to respond to fire, chemical, and still alarms where only Spanish is spoken. By learning a variety of commands, firefighters can take charge of the situation and direct victims and other bystanders to safety.
No prior knowledge of Spanish necessary for either level.
Objectives
With Emergency Spanish for Firefighters, you will be able to do the following (and more) in Spanish:
- assess initial scene situations and establish crowd control
- calm victims and their families
- evacuate a building
- obtain physical assessment of patient
- explain results of still alarm
Intended Audience
This program is intended for firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, rescue squads, and fire chiefs.
Participants will receive:
A 56 page manual and 1 audio CD that contains over 200 Spanish-phrases, commands, and questions that are needed by non-Spanish-speaking firefighters.
