Wireless LANs

Fundamentals of Wireless LANs

As organizations adopt wireless LAN technology to gain the competitive advantages of a mobile and productive workforce, they need qualified professionals who can design, install, support, and operate a wireless solution.

In the Fundamentals of Wireless LANs course (CPC 240), students learn to develop, implement, and troubleshoot wireless networks. The course is a combination of hands-on experience, instructor-led lectures, and a Web-based curriculum, and helps students to achieve the Cisco Wireless LAN Support Specialist Designation.

The following prerequisites are required before enrolling in CPC 240:

  • Completion of CPC 171, or
  • CCNA certification, or
  • By instructor permission

Please contact Jim Elkins by e-mail at jelkins@stchas.edu or by phone at 636-922-8207 to set up an appointment before registering for this class. Waivers are frequently granted based on a student’s experience or knowledge.

The class meets once per week for four and a half hours for a full semester.

  • several additional hours in the Cisco lab outside of class
  • several hours outside of class reviewing the online curriculum
  • filling out an Engineering Journal
  • completing any labs not finished within class outside of class

Note: Classes fill up quickly. Students register on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is suggested that you register as soon as registration opens up each semester. Spring registration usually begins in October; Fall registration usually begins in April. Check with the Admissions office for the exact dates.
