Talking With A Faculty AdvisorStudents are required to take CPT 115: Introduction to Data Processing and CPT 106: PC Operating Systems prior to being allowed into the Cisco Networking Academy program or the A+ Computer Repair and Maintenance class. Students are required to take CPT 115, CPT 106, and CPC 170: Networking Basics prior to entering the Microsoft Windows program. It is not recommended but, students who desire to will be allowed to take CPC 170 concurrently as they begin the Microsoft Windows program to save time. The above required classes may be waived in the following circumstances:
Talking with a faculty advisor is an opportunity to sit down one-on-one with a member of our faculty to determine at what point you should begin your training. Some students come to us with more advanced knowledge, while others do not. It is our desire that you succeed with your training. If you begin with a more advanced class but do not have the required prerequisite knowledge, then you would most likely fail. We want you to succeed! We will determine which classes may be waived (CPT 115, CPT 106, and/or CPC 170). You will be given a Class Add/Drop form with the proper waivers. You must then take the Class Add/Drop form to the Admissions Office to complete your registration and to reserve a place in the class. Talking with a faculty advisor and receiving a waiver does not grant college credit for the class. If you wish to earn a degree or certificate from the college, you must take the class. A waiver serves only to waive the requirement to enter the networking program. |
