COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

Future:

Management is a diverse and growing field.  An uncertain business environment and a shifting economy make it even more important that a strong management exist in an organization!

A career in management requires that you attain a practical foundation in current business theory and practices in order to integrate and coordinate organizational activities.  Imagine having the chance to be a department head, management consultant, corporate executive or, perhaps you'd like to direct the activities of an entire company -- quite possibly your own!

Pathways:

At SCC, students interesed in management may choose one of three pathways:

Four-year path, Associate of Arts Degree:

The two-year Associate of Arts transfer degree with an emphasis in pre-business will provide you with a good foundation before continuing your education in management at a four-year institution. The Associate of Arts transfer degree parallels the first two years of a business degree at senior institutions, so many of your community college credits will transfer towards a bachelor's degree. (See the required general education courses.)

Two-year path, Associate of Applied Science Degree --Management Option:

This degree with the mangement option will aid students in developing skills, knowledge, and aptitudes related to management and supervision. Graduates are prepared to seek employment in supervisory or entry-level management postions.  (Click here to see the required courses)

Certificate of Achievement:

This certificate program prepares students for such entry-level positions in supervision and management.  It is also intended for those students who are currently employed and want to upgrade their skills. (Click here to see the required courses)

What our students are saying. . .

Judy Self

I didn't go to a four-year university because the classes are too big. You don't get as much one on one with the instructor.

I heard from a lot of other students who went to 4-yr colleges and then came back to SCC because they felt like they were getting a better education. I think the level of instruction is excellent and the teachers really try to make the subjects fun!

Tuition is also a lot more affordable and the variety of online classes made it very convenient for me to finish my education.
