History

History
is "learning by inquiry." It is a systematic account of what has happened
or might have happened in the life and development of a people, country,
institution, etc. It deals with recording, analyzing, correlating, and
explaining past events.
Career
Opportunities
History majors are
well prepared to enter careers in government service, education,
journalism, law, genalogy research, historic preservation and restoration
work, and any of the many specialist positions in libraries and museums.
A graduate with a bachelor's degree in this field might work with an arts and
humanities council, serve on the staff of a legislator, govenor, or mayor,
or get a job on a public radio or television station. National park
service, intelligence services, foreign service, state and municipal
archives, and local politics also offer opportunities. With a
master's or doctorate degree, teaching at a college or university is also
an option.
