Degree Programs
Associate of Arts Degree
This program is for students who anticipate transferring their SCC
credits to a four-year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate
degree. The SCCAssociate of Arts degree program includes 45
credit hours of general education requirements and 19 hours in criminal
justice courses. An internship is recommended. (You should
pick up a "Suggested Schedule Guide for the Criminal Justice Transfer
Student" from the SCC Student Development office.)
Associate of Applied Science Degree
This program is primarily for students who do not plan
to transfer to a four-year college but wish to enter law enforcement
directly upon earning the associate's degree. (The SCC Associate
of Applied Science degree program requirements are outlined in this
brochure.) Requirements include 24 general education hours, 3 credit
hours in sociology, 37 credit hours in criminal justice, and 18 credit
hours of core course and 19 credit hours of general electives.
In planning your course of study, consider the following: The community
college grants up to 12 hours of credit for students who already have
completed the full St. Charles County Law Enforcement Training Center
program. You will want to take electives at SCC that do not
duplicate this credit. (See "Curriculum
Notes".) You should seek advisement in the SCC Student Development
office each year before you register for classes.
