The St. Charles Community College
Singers, was the first performance ensemble established by Gene
Ditch at SCC for the fall 1993 semester. This non-auditioned
ensemble is open to college and community members who enjoy singing
and sharing their talents with others. Members of the SCC Singers
work on music of various styles and genres culminating in public
performance at the end of each semester.
Some of the works the choir has
performed include the Rutter "Requiem", the Schubert "Deutsche
Masse" and the Ralph Vaughan Williams "Hodie" in conjunction
with the Chamber Choir and Orchestra. During the 2005 fall semester
they were involved in a combined performance of the Robert Shaw
choral suite, "The Many Moods of Christmas" and other seasonal
literature.
Each spring semester
the choir rehearses secular and sacred college level literature
and includes small ensemble and solo performance opportunities
for its members.
