The
chamber choir at SCC is an auditioned ensemble of mixed voices
for up to 30 singers. Offered during the
fall semester, the choir performs accompanied and unaccompanied
chamber music and on occasion joins with other choral groups on
campus to perform literature for large ensemble.
Originally
established in the fall of 1997 to perform a fall madrigal, the
choir has performed the Rutter "Requiem", the Schubert "Deutsche
Messe" and most recently Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Hodie" in
conjunction with the SCC Singers and Orchestra. During the 2005 fall
semester they were involved in a combined performance of Robert
Shaw's four choral suites, "The Many Moods of Christmas".
Along with performances on campus, the group also
performs for social and community events in the St. Charles County
area. Selected members of the Chamber Choir may also perform with
the Community College Collegiate Choir for the Missouri Community
College Association (MCCA) state events and every four years with
the All-State Collegiate Choir for the Missouri Music Educator's
Convention.
The chamber choir rehearses
from 11-11:50 Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Interested persons
should register for the course and attend class the first week
of the fall semester to learn the audition material. Auditions
will take place at the end of the first week with a well-voiced
and balanced ensemble being the goal.
