Multicultural/Valuing - BuddhismGeneral Education Capstone Course Event/Experience Details and Guideline Form Gen. Ed. Category Event should be listed under: Multi-Cultural Valuing SCC Competency addressed by event: Students should be able to identify, analyze their own values and articulate their own as well as those of others and recognize how these values affect opinions, decisions and behaviors. Event experience Title: An Introduction to Buddhism Anticipated Learning Outcome. Upon completion of this project, students will be able to identify the various themes in Buddhism. Students will increase their awareness of cultural differences reflected in religious traditions. Reflection on this event should encourage personal reflection on the student’s religious heritage and how this has impacted their cultural perspective. Guidelines for accomplishment of event Step 1. Using the Internet or a library, read one (1) critical essay in regard to Buddhism, Or Interview Philosophy Professor or Buddhist monk for an overview of critical themes in Buddhism. Step 2. Using the SCC library, secure and watch one of the following videos: - Buddha In The Land Of TheKami (7th - 12th Centuries) / A Co-Production OfAntenne 2 ... [Et Al.] - Buddhism Footprint Of The Buddha--India / BBC. Step 3. Write a journal entry summarizing the experience using the criteria as described in Anticipated Learning Outcome (see above.)
