2. Articulate an informed response to popular or classical works in the humanities.              

Event experience title: Watch a video of Shakespeare's Othello

Anticipated learning outcome

Upon completion of this project, students will be able to identify the various flaws in the tragic hero's character.  Students will increase their awareness of cultural differences reflected in social status, feminist issues, and racial stereotypes.  Reflection on this event should encourage personal reflection on the student's ethnic heritage and how this has impacted their cultural perspective.

Guidelines for accomplishment of event

Step 1.  Using the Internet or a library, read one (1) critical essay in regard to Othello, OR

Step 2.  Interview an English Professor for an overview of critical themes in Othello.

Step 3.  From a video rental business or a library, secure and watch a video of Othello.

Step 4.  Write a journal entry summarizing the experience using the criteria as described in the Anticipated Learning Outcomes (see above).
