of works in humanities (e.g., literature, philosophy, and language. Articulate
an informed response to popular works in humanities.
Event experience title: Visit a Writer's Group
Anticipated learning outcome: To address how writers learn writing
techniques and the advantage of constructive criticism from professional
writers and peers; also, to appreciate the world of creative imagination
in writing as a form of knowledge.
Guidelines for accomplishment of event
Write a journal entry based on one of the writers' groups below.
- Take notes on the agenda program, audience, and meeting place.
- What did they speak about?
- Was the audience actively engaged regarding the program?
- Was there a guest speaker? If so, who was it and what was his or her
area of expertise?
- Was it an engaging session? Explain.
- Speak to other participants about their interest in writing. Why do
they think writing is important? What do they want to accomplish by attending
the workshop? Did they gain insight about the skills/techniques/dedication
involved in wanting to write well?
