Using the following guidelines, write a two-three page essay based on attending one of the above events. 

  • During the event, take notes on the atmosphere (describe the place, the people), the types of poetry or short fiction performed, the response of the audience, and your response.
  • Note what you liked or disliked about the reading(s), which reading(s) impressed you in some way and what criteria you used to evaluate presentation and content. 
  • Conduct a brief interview with at least one of the readers/performers concerning his/her writing or concerning writing in general.

Note: The above events follow specific schedules and/or occur only on specific dates. Students should check above sites early in the semester in order to coordinate with their own schedules.
