Finding Articles with SCC
Library Indexes
The following databases are accessible to all SCC students,
faculty, and staff with a valid ID number, both on and off campus.
Search the databases for articles from magazines, journals, and/or
newspapers.
To access these resources from home:
- Click on the database name below,
- Enter your last name and your seven-digit student ID number
(including the zero), followed by "sc," for example,
0123456sc
Academic
Search Elite / Masterfile Academic Search Elite and
Masterfile are periodical indexes which together cover 3,100+
magazines, journals, and some newspapers on a broad range of topics.
Many of the articles indexed are available for you to view and
print.
St.
Louis Post-Dispatch (from Newsbank) Access Post-Dispatch
articles online from 1988 - present. Because of SCC library's
subscription, you don't need to pay to access older articles! The
Post-Dispatch reports on local, national and international news for
the St. Louis metropolitan area.
LexisNexis
LexisNexis is a full-text database which gives you access to
major newspapers, magazines and government information; all articles
give you the full article text.
Opposing Viewpoints Access viewpoint articles,
topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, magazine and
newspaper articles on current topics.

Finding Books
Archway
Online Catalog The book catalog showing which books, music,
and videos the SCC library owns and where they're located in the
library. To get started, choose the type of search you want (Keyword
is the broadest and most commonly used). We also offer electronic
books which you can access from off campus.
MOBIUS If the SCC
library doesn't have what you're looking for, expand your search to
libraries outside of SCC MOBIUS allows you to search for and request
books from other Missouri colleges and universities. Ask at the
reference desk if you need help.
The SCC Library offers additional article indexes and
databases. To view these, go to the library's Online
Indexes and Reference Databases page.
