and GED Preparation
Classes to brush up on basic skills as
well as GED test preparation are offered by St. Charles Community College
in cooperation with school districts and agencies throughout St. Charles,
Lincoln, Warren, and Pike counties.
Free day and evening classes are available.
Students are assessed and individual learning plans are created to meet
each individual's unique needs.
Students work at their own pace in small groups or individually with
material suited to their specific abilities. Courses prepare students
to take the General Education Development (GED) exam.
Registration is continuous and pre-registration is not required. Students
may enroll at any time. Orientation for new students is conducted during
the first half-hour of each class. Students must attend a minimum of 12
hours for initial assessment and evaluation.
Students who attend the college's AEL/GED program and successfully complete
the GED exam with a score of 270 or higher are eligible for scholarships
to attend SCC. All GED recipients who attended the college's AEL/GED
program are invited to attend the "GED Graduate Recognition Ceremony"
held on campus each June. The 2002 ceremony will be held on June
26, 2002, at 7 p.m. in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building at St. Charles
