BUS270: E-Marketing
Online Course Spring: 2008
Dear Student,
Welcome to St. Charles County Community College and
"E-Marketing". This course is designed to give you an understanding
of the impact of the Internet on traditional methods of marketing.
As the Internet has become more and more ubiquitous in business,
organizations of all types need to understand how to maximize its
potential in their marketing efforts. This course will give you a
solid understanding of how the Internet has impacted the traditional
"Four Ps" (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) of marketing and
provide you with the knowledge to effectively leverage the Internet
to market goods and services in today's "e-economy". Additionally
strong emphasis will be placed on researching and understanding
E-Marketing trends being leveraged by companies today. These trends
include but are not limited to Search Engine Marketing, Database
Marketing, Online Advertising, Etc.
The online format of this course is designed to give you maximum
flexibility in taking the course. A great deal of self-discipline is
required as you are expected to complete the assigned work even
though we will not have regular class meetings. We will use the
computer and Internet for most of our interaction and exchanges so
you will need a computer able to access the Internet. I will review
this at the MANDATORY ORIENTATION SESSION. You must
attend to receive your course password and instructions:
Orientation: Wednesday, January 16 – 6 p.m. –
TECH 216
Midterm: Tuesday, March 11 – 6 p.m. – TECH 101
Final: Wednesday, May 7 – 6 p.m. – TECH 202
If you cannot attend the orientation session you must contact me
to make alternate arrangements.
The only other times you will have to attend any session in
person will be for the Midterm and Final Examination.
You may order the text (E-Marketing 4th Edition; Strauss,
El-Ansary, and Frost) for the class from the bookstore either in
person, by telephone, or online via computer: www.stchas.edu/bookstore.
We will go over how to use the Internet for this course at the
orientation session. If you have ANY questions,
write them down, and we will answer them at the orientation session.
I look forward to interacting with you in exploring the world of
e-marketing.
WebCT courses will not be available to students until 5 working
