Health Occupations Schedule and Tuition

Some Health Occupations courses require a high school diploma/GED, proof of prerequisite licensure/certification, criminal background check, Family Care Safety Registry, health screenings and/or drug testing for admission and/or clinical participation. Please reference the individual course pages for additional information and specific requirements.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Skills Evaluation (NRS 414)

This course is intended for the healthcare provider who must verify successful completion of a CPR course. The cognitive portion of this course is completed online through the American Heart Association at www.onlineaha.org (additional fee applies). Students must present a certificate of successful completion of the online course to participate in the skills practice and evaluation. Early registration is STRONGLY encouraged. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

CMT Pre-Test (CMT 300-75)

Basic math and English test required for admission into CMT course. Test is given by appointment only and may be taken up to three times/semester. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Certified Medication Technician (CMT) (CMT 200-40B)

Provides the 65 hours of classroom instruction required for certification as a Missouri CMT. Additional 24 hours of clinical practice are required. Students must have at least six months of CNA experience and be currently employed in a Skilled LTC facility to complete the clinical hours. Textbook is provided. CMT Final Exam (CMT 100-75)

Exam administered to SCC students who have successfully completed the classroom and clinical aspects of the CMT Program. Includes both written and practical proficiencies. Successful completion will lead to certification in the State of Missouri. Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Certification exam for students given approval by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Includes written and practical proficiencies. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (CNA 100)

This course provides the classroom instruction necessary for employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Missouri. An additional 100 hours of clinical experience is required and can be completed through the college (CNA 102) or through employment. Upon completion, students must take and pass a written and practical final examination (CNA 100-75) to apply for certification. New classes begin each week. Open entry. Textbook required. CNA Clinical Internship (CNA 102-40)

Provides the required 100 hours of clinical preparation for SCC students who need to complete their coursework and are not employed in a state approved Long Term Care Facility. Students are eligible to apply for their internship after completing the required pre-requisites. See CNA web page for registration requirements. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

CNA-Accelerated (CNA 100-46)

Provides the classroom instruction, clinical hours, and state exam necessary for employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Missouri. This specific section is presented in a closed-entry, accelerated format. Textbook provided in class. Clinical Supervisor (NRS 339)

This online self-paced course is designed to prepare the Registered and Licensed nurse to supervise Nurse Assistant students during their 100 hours of on-the-job training experience in a licensed Long Term Care Facility. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be placed on the Missouri Registry and will receive a certificate of completion from SCC. Course is open entry.

Dosage Calculation (CDV 600)

This math course prepares students for the Dosage Calculations test required for admission to SCC nursing programs. Basic math skills are required. Enroll early! Bring a basic function calculator to class. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Online IV Therapy (NRS 101-HN1)

This 44-contact-hour course teaches the skills necessary to provide IV therapy. An excellent review for RN or LPN wishing to update skills, or an LPN who desires Missouri IV Certification. An additional eight hours of clinical and one eight-hour lab day (4/11/15) are required to complete the course. IV Therapy Certification Challenge Exam (NRS 100-40B)

Allows the LPN who is IV certified in another state to obtain IV certification in Missouri. Textbook is strongly suggested as a review, but not required. See IV Therapy Challenge Exam web page for registration requirements. Fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Patient Care Technician (PCT 100-40B)

Prepares student to work in a hospital or long term care environment under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Students are trained in monitoring and recording vital signs, assisting with mobility, bathing, dressing, grooming and other tasks related to direct patient care. Students meet two days/week for class and clinical as scheduled. Textbook required. See PCT web page for registration requirements. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Pharmacy Technician Program (PMT 100-41B)

Students will be trained to effectively assist in pharmaceutical preparation and complete daily required tasks in the pharmacy environment. Covers drug classifications, basic physiology, drug interactions and daily pharmacy operations. Textbook and drug cards required. Phlebotomy (NRS 125-40 & 41)

Prepares students for entry-level positions as phlebotomists. Program consists of online classwork, on-campus lab days, and 120 clinical hours done at an off-site facility. Clinical hours are done Mon.-Fri between 7 a.m.-5 p.m.. Students can expect to put in between 24-30 hours per week (doing a 6 or 8 hour shift) for the duration of the clinical hours.

Students are required to successfully complete all of these components to receive a certificate of completion from SCC. Textbook and lab kit required. See Phlebotomy web page for registration requirements. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Practical Nursing Review Course (NRS 130-40)

Review the core curriculum of Practical Nursing Program – medical, surgical, psychiatric, OB/GYN and pediatric nursing. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Registered Nurse First Assistant (NUR 200/220)

This AORN approved class follows the core curriculum for the RN First Assistant. Six credit hours are awarded upon completion of the course. Three credits are earned through classroom/theory presentation and an additional three credits through an approved internship program.

Restorative Nurse Assistant (RNA 100-40)

This course provides the instruction necessary for employment as a Certified Restorative Nurse Assistant. It includes 36 hours of classroom instruction as well as 30 hours of clinical experience in a skilled nursing facility. Upon completion, the student must pass a written and practical exam to qualify for certification.

Medical Administrative Assistant (MAST 100)

A 200-hour comprehensive online curriculum designed to prepare students for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant Exam through NHA. Train on Microsoft Office Suite and gain the knowledge and skills necessary to move successfully into the workforce. Upon completion of the coursework, students will be provided with vouchers to take the CMAA and CEHRS certification exams. Work must be completed within six months. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Medical Billing, MBLG 100

This flexible online 145-hour curriculum prepares student to follow claims, work with industry specific forms, and understand healthcare reimbursement. Work must be completed within six months. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Professional Medical Coding & Billing, MCDG 100

Innovative, comprehensive, self-paced, online medical coding and billing program designed to prepare individuals for certification and employment as a professional inpatient/outpatient medical coders. Upon completion of the coursework, students will be given a voucher to take either the CCA or CPC national certification exams. Coursework must be completed within 12 months. Enroll in each block individually or register for the entire program up front. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Medical Transcription, MTRN 100

An online fully integrated, comprehensive, stand-alone study course in medical transcription. Learn basic skills the career requires. Upon completion of the coursework, students will be given a voucher to take the RHDS national certification exam. Coursework must be completed within 12 months. Enroll in each block individually or register for the entire program up front. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.
