How to Read the Schedule

At the top of each page of the class schedule is a line of column headings. Here's what each heading means:

Course Section # - The course number consists of three parts:

  • Three-letter prefix for the subject area.
  • Three-digit course number. (Use this number to look up the course description in the college catalog.)
  • Two-digit section number. Several sections (classes) of the same course may be offered each semester.
  • Sections occurring within mini-mesters (other than distance learning classes) will have three-digit section numbers. The first digit will denote which mini-mester the class is in.

For distance learning classes, special section numbers indicate the following:

The first or second digit/letter indicates type of course or location:

T Tele/video course
N Online
W Teleweb
1 SCC Main Campus

Course - Course name may be abbreviated to fit the space. See the college catalog for the full course name.

Credit - Credit hours are based on the number of hours per week the class meets and the length of the term.

Days - Days refers to the days of the week the class is held. The following letters represent each day of the week classes are held.

M Monday
T Tuesday
W Wednesday
R Thursday
F Friday
S Saturday
For example:

MWF means the class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday;
TR means the class meets Tuesday and Thursday.

Time - The beginning and ending times for the class are listed in this column.

Evening and Saturday classes are shaded with a color bar.

Room - The building and room number where the class meets. (See campus map.) The following is a list of building abbreviations used in this schedule:

Main Campus:
ADM Administration Building
CC College Center
ACA Academic Building
FAB Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building
LRC Learning Resource Center
TECH Technology Building

Off-Campus Locations - Off-campus addresses can be found in the Maps section of the web site.

Instructor - if this reads "Faculty" it means the instructor had not yet been assigned when the schedule went to press.

Due to the process required to finalize the schedule, faculty assignments may change without notice.

NOTES: Specific notes relating to an individual course appear directly under the class listing. If a note applies to more than one class, a symbol will indicate the relevant classes. Class dates are given in a colored bar above the class listing.

Cap indicates the maximum number of students allowed to enroll in a class

Avail indicates how many seats are still available in the class

Acad Level (Academic Level) - all classes will show as UG for undergraduate

Term - shows the last two digits of the year (05) and the semester (FA). Semester codes are as follows:

SP Spring
SU Summer
FA Fall
