Spring 2013 Hybrid Course Information

Dear Student:

Welcome! You are enrolled in BAS 250-H80: Business Simulations at St. Charles Community College This section is offered in a hybrid format, combining the benefits of an online and face-to-face course. As a three hour course in the hybrid format, we will meet about one half of the time we would meet if it were a face-to-face course. This semester we will meet on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:50 p.m. in TECH 110; any modifications to the schedule will be discussed in class.

The class time will be used for activities that work best in a group environment or in a face-to-face situation, while much of the other work is to be completed on your own. This course does require self-discipline on your part to do the required work without having scheduled class time. Course policies will be the same for a hybrid course as for any other: absences will impact your grade AND no late work is accepted.

St. Charles Community College is officially transitioning to Moodle as the learning management systems for all distance programs on campus. You can access Moodle at https://moodle.stchas.edu/ using the same log in and password that you used to access WebCT. There are many resources available to help you make the transition; those can be found on the college Student Support page

You will have access to the course the week before it begins. It is your responsibility to review the Web site and course requirements immediately to be sure the schedule can work with yours. The course officially begins during our first meeting on Wednesday, January 23; starting work any time after that date may cause you to get behind very quickly.

You will need the textbook and access to the Moodle course by the start of classes to stay on schedule. You may get the text for the class from the bookstore either in person, by telephone, or online via at www.stchas.edu/bookstore. Bookstore hours are listed on the website.
