ECO-110-N1 Principles of Macroeconomics

Dear Course Student:

Welcome to St. Charles Community College's online course ECO-110 Principles of Macroeconomics. My name is Matthew Wegmann and I will be your facilitator for the course.  My role is to guide and direct you through the course material, answer your questions and to assess your mastery of the assigned material.

Course Content/Evaluation

This is an online educational course that includes on campus orientation (optional) and tests.  Check the course calendar for dates, times, and location. Also check your SCC email for course announcements after you enroll.  The course will largely rely on the assigned text(s) and a Web component through Moodle.  The Moodle site will have learning resources, practice questions, graded assignments, and other material.  For more information see the Syllabus on the course home page.

Online courses are generally set up to allow an independent learner to flourish; it requires the student to put forth effort and time needed in a largely independent setting. If this is something that fits with the student’s learning style then they generally will be successful in this course.

Once you access the course home page, you should read the syllabus and follow the directions. I cannot stress enough, the importance of actively working on Moodle to guide your studying and keep up with any announcements and emails. This course is designed to allow a large degree of flexibility and fit into a busy student’s schedule, but also hold to firm deadlines and some structure to help guide a student through the material efficiently. Do not substitute flexible for easy, you need to dedicate 5-10 hours a week to succeed.  Skipping that will likely lead to subpar performance.

Students have a single login and password to access the SCC Connection and Moodle. You should already be assigned your login and password through the SCC Connection and will be able to access the course through Moodle. To access the course go to https://moodle.stchas.edu/  Login. Once you are logged into Moodle, you should see all the courses you are registered for. If Principles of Macroeconomics doesn't appear contact the Registration Office to make sure you are registered (remember you must pay or have your financial aid/payment plan complete). If you are registered, contact the Moodle help desk.

If you do not feel completely comfortable with all aspects of Moodle, on the login page there are links to Student Help and a Help Desk. If you have any questions concerning the course content or what is expected of you during the course, please contact me using the normal SCC e-mail,
