Ahlan wa Sahlan! Welcome to Arabic Language and Culture  I.  This course is designed to introduce you to Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and the culture of the Arabic speaking world. It is taught completely on-line via SKYPE and will have a required weekly meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m. each Saturday morning. (If this is a problem, please contact instructor for other possibilities). Additional work will be available on Moodle.

 https://moodle.stchas.edu

Prior to the first day of class, students should establish a SKYPE account by visiting www.skype.com. If possible, upload a picture of yourself. Please email the instructor your sign on name so that you can be added to the class conference call. Be ready to answer the conference call at 9:00 a.m. at your computer.

The class is being taught from Saudi Arabia, so there is an eight hour time difference. The Instructor is available to answer  questions  from  8-9 a.m. MTWR & Saturday and by appointment and can be reached by phone at  314-720-2109 . This is a SKYPE number that is accessible in St. Louis or in Saudi Arabia. If you call, please leave a message stating what you need and a call back number.

It is necessary for each student to have access to a computer, a Web cam (although we generally use audio, not video), a printer and a scanner to send assignments and tests. You can't take the class on a smart phone! It will be necessary to have your hands free for writing.
