COL-299-N01 Sophomore Portfolio Assessment

Dear Students,

Welcome to your Capstone project. Rather than thinking of this as a class, think of it as a project, and rather than thinking of me as your professor, please think of me as a project leader.  The Capstone is a culminating project designed to give you an opportunity to demonstrate that your general education at St. Charles Community College provided you with skills and knowledge that you could only have after completing a college program.

We will have an online orientation. First, please take the readiness quiz on the class Moodle page to determine whether or not you are prepared for online learning.  You need to print and mail your results to Virginia Guneyli, St. Charles Community College – HUM 203, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Cottleville, MO 63376.  Please also watch the demonstrations online.

You will rely on your Moodle class page, particularly the Discussion Board and Turnitin assignments for our short five week semester.  You will also gather information and assignments on the Web page. You need to buy a CD or usb to which you will save your portfolio at the end of the semester. The electronic portfolio will not be returned to you at the end of the class.  You will also need a three-ring binder with dividers to organize your journals (drafts, edits, finals), as well as your final research paper or project (drafts, edits, finals). 

This is a pass/fail course.  You will be assigned a “P” (Pass) or an “F” (Fail) at the end of the semester. A passing grade will be issued if you receive a 75 percent or higher.  You should draft everything you write over the semester, and you should edit for your classmates.
