Simple Sewing

Butterick Pattern #5572. Please purchase before first class. (Each store carries 2-3 patterns of each size. You can also order them online at the Butterick pattern site.) Two patterns are available – one for adults and one for children. All adult sizes are given in one pattern and all child sizes are given in the children’s pattern.

Be prepared to purchase fabrics and notions (elastic and thread) during the ‘field trip’ the first night of the class. Meet at SCC at 6 p.m. There will be a brief discussion then individuals will continue on to a local fabric store.

Additional supplies will be needed for classes 2, 3 & 4 for construction. If you do not have these supplies or need help with the purchase of any of the supplies, the instructor can give advice for purchase at the first class during the fabric store field trip.

Additional supplies:

• Sewing machine with all feet (in good working order) Machine is only needed for classes 2, 3, & 4. Do not bring to first night of class.
• Sewing machines are available from SCC for rent for $5. Reserve machine for April 3 class. Reserve machine for May 9 class.
• Machine needles, sharps – size 80/12
• Straight pins
• Large SHARP scissors – for cutting fabric
• Small SHARP scissors – for cutting threads
• Hand sewing needles
• Tape Measure
• Seam guide for sewing machine (if you have one)
• Pencil and paper
