A Healthy Campus

SCC encourages students to make healthy life choices.  This includes a balanced diet, regular exercise, obtaining plenty of rest, and refraining from the use of alcohol, tobacco products, and/or other controlled/illegal drugs.

Tobacco-Free Campus

The SCC campus is completely tobacco-free. The use of tobacco products is prohibited anywhere on the college campus. This includes all buildings, common areas, building entrances, athletic fields, walking trails and parking lots.

See SCC board policy 482.1 Prohibition of Tobacco Use for additional information.

Drug-Free Campus

St. Charles Community College is a drug-free institution and operates within the guidelines as set forth in the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 and the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.

SCC prohibits the unlawful manufacture, possession, use or distribution of drugs on the campus, college sites, client sites or at any college-sponsored event. The possession, use or distribution of alcoholic beverages on campus, college sites, client sites, instructional activities and at college-sponsored events is prohibited unless specifically approved by the president.

See SCC board policy 414 Drug-Free Environment for Students for additional information.

Mental Health Counseling

SCC contracts with Bridgeway Behavioral Health to provide short-term mental health counseling to assist students.  The contracted counselor will also assist students by providing referrals to community based treatment centers for alcohol or substance abuse issues. http://www.stchas.edu/academics/student-resources/scc-mental-health/index.html

Immunization Against Communicable Diseases

It is strongly recommended that all entering freshmen and transfer students be immunized for measles and rubella before they register for classes at SCC. Certain immunizations are required for admission to selected health programs. Details are available from the office for allied health programs, ADM 1442, for details about specific programs.

Weapon-Free Campus

Possession or use of firearms – whether concealed or in sight – or any explosives, dangerous chemicals or other weapons are prohibited on college property and at college-sponsored or supervised functions. Visit SCC's board policy on weapons.

Campus Safety

In the case of an emergency, contact SCC’s Department of Public Safety at 636-922-8545, or call 911.

In addition to keeping SCC safe and secure, Department of Public Safety officers provide a number of services. From assisting motorists with lockouts and jump-starts, to providing an escort on campus at night, officers are available to assist students, employees and visitors.

Emergency Alert System

A text message Emergency Alert System serves as one means of alerting the campus community about emergencies, warnings, weather-related closings and campus shutdowns.
