This week's second NCA fact of the day: The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Today's NCA fact of the day: The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) uses two major processes, institutional self-study and peer evaluation, to build its comprehensive evaluations for initial and continued accreditation. The two goals of the NCA self-study are to: 1) Integrate the self-study findings into our strategic planning, budgeting and assessment processes and 2) To share findings with the college community and initiate organizational improvement.

Today's NCA fact: Another goal of the self-study process is to evaluate the college's effectiveness in realizing our vision, accomplishing our mission and demonstrating our values.

Today's NCA fact: The last time SCC was evaluated by the NCA and the Higher Learning Commission was 2002.

Today's NCA fact: A team of five administrators and staff from other colleges that are members of NCA will be selected by the HLC and NCA to be the consultant evaluators who will validate SCC's self-study report in November 2011.

This week's last NCA fact of the day: To prepare for the NCA visit in November 2011, SCC must produce a self-study of the institution for review by the NCA team prior to their visit.
